It’s important when looking for a Pharmacy Technician school that you choose one that is accredited by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). The ASHP is the only organization in the U.S. that establishes national accreditation and educational standards for schools that offer Pharmacy Technician training. The ASHP provides links to Pharmacy Technician schools located throughout the U.S. that have accredited Pharmacy tech programs. Once on ASHP’s website, click on your state and then the school you’re interested in. Most of the schools listed have location and contact information, a program description and hours, tuition costs and a link to the school’s website. At last count, there were 170 schools on the list. However, ASHP listings for the following states were not available at this time:

If you’re a Certified Pharmacy Technician, don’t forget that every two years you will be required to complete 20 hours of continuing education classes to remain certified. This can be accomplished through one or more of the following ways:
- At your place of employment by your Pharmacist supervisor as long as the format and documentation is approved by your state’s Board of Pharmacy
- Continuing education hours approved by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
- Continuing education hours approved by The American Pharmaceutical Association (A.Ph.A.)
- Any provider of continuing education who is accredited by the Americian Council on Pharmaceutical Education (A.C.P.E.)
- Continuing education hours presented by your State’s Association of Pharmacists
